TODAY, FOURTH SUNDAY OF ADVENT: Archangel  Gabriel was sent from God to a town in Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin named Mary who was  betrothed to a man named Joseph of the house of David.  The Archangel Gabriel tells Mary that her son’s origin will be from God.  “In you He will be conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit.”  The child she will give birth to will be called the Son of the Most High, and His Kingdom will have no end.  The prophet Nathan said to David: “You will not build a house for me to dwell in, but I am the one who will make you the ‘house’ in which my offspring, through my Son, will dwell eternally.”  In that way a new David, as God’s new offspring, will enter the world, and throughout history will be its seal and meaning.  That will be a new Israel, a new God’s people…the Church.  The old Covenant will be changed for a new Covenant which will be extended to all mankind.  The promise given to King David touches not only him personally but also his offspring and the whole world.  The “Good News” told to Mary touches not only her personally, but all mankind.  Her acceptance of this news is the acceptance of all of the human race.  Jesus Christ --- a new David, Shepherd of the new God’s people --- is the King of a new House of Jacob (Lk 1, 33) and unites all mankind with himself.  And every man and woman, if they want, will be united with the new Adam who became the head of the redeemed.  The Church is the offspring of Christ, and became the living God’s temple among men and women, and the Church’s duty is life’s mission to preach the Good News to all and to witness for Christ.

DANAS: 4. NEDJELJA DOŠAŠĆA: Arkanđeo Gabrijel govori Mariji: «Od tebe će se roditi Potomak, koga je Bog Davidu obećao.  No on će s jedne strane biti Božanskog porijekla, doći će od samoga Boga. Crkva, to potomstvo Kristovo, postade živi Božji hram među ljudima.  Njezina je zadaća i životno poslanjeČ svim ljudima, primitivnima i naprednima, navještati Blagu Vijest i svjedočiti za Krista
