A FAMILY PERSPECTIVE: What Our Heavenly Father said to Jesus in today's Gospel, «You are my beloved. My favor rests on you» is said to each of us. We don't earn this love; it is given freely. The unconditional love we experience in our families is sacramental, for it gives us a glimpse of God's freely given, all accepting, love.
G O S P E L G R A M
Have faith in God... and doubt not... (Mk 11:22; Mt 21:21)
Like an unborn baby, the thing that we often hope to receive from God is unseen at the beginning. As an expectant mother, we must continuously live in expectancy – waiting patiently, with hope, for our time of delivery. Hebrews 11:1 tells us that «faith is the substance of things hoped for (and) the evidence of things not seen.» Faith is hoping to receive, from Jehovah God, that which we cannot see and expecting to get it. Thus faith is a combination of hope and expectation. «Jesus... said... If ye have faith, and doubt not... all things, whatsover ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive» (Mt 21:21,22) for «all things are possible to him that believeth» (Mk 9:23). Therefore, as an expectant mother, never lose hope and doubt. Live continuously in expectation of a miracle.
WEDDING BANNS I: Ian McCracken and Margaret Batt.
DECEASED: Steve N. Yelich, brother of our late parishioner Mrs. Sophie (late Stanley) Zak Sr., and son of the late Nicholas and Katherine Yelich, died on December 30th in Delmar, NY. He died shortly after leaving the memorial service for his wife Betty (Knapp) Yelich, who died December 27th, 2008. Our deepest sympathy to the family.
