TODAY SECOND
SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME: Jesus
Christ was preparing to establish the Church and He gathered some disciples
around Him, and called them Apostles.
The first two were disciples of John the Baptizer. Their teacher sent them to Jesus. These two called their brothers to join
them: Peter called his brother Andrew, John called his brother James the
Greater. All twelve Apostles were
radically tying their lives with the life of their Teacher Jesus Christ. They answered His call --- they stayed with
Him. Their conversation with Jesus
convinced them that He is the Messiah for whom the people were waiting. John the Baptizer introduced Jesus with
these words: “This is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the
world.” “Lamb” meant a lot more to
Jesus’ and John’s contemporaries than it does to us today. Life with the Lamb meant their basic
vocation. “Lamb” means being white,
cleansed, pure --- a changed life and life without sin. John called Jesus “Lamb of God” and this expression means God’s messenger,
the Anointed of the Lord, a perfect man, without sin and stain of sin, God’s
Holy One. Jesus showed Himself to His
contemporaries as an example of humility and simplicity. “Come to Me and learn from Me, for I am meak
and humble of heart.” (Mt. 11, 28-29).
He is calling Himself to be the very holiness in order to prove His
words --- His message. He openly said
to His enemies: “Who of you can convict Me of sin? If I am telling the truth, why do you not believe me? “ (John 8,46).

DANAS 2. NEDJELJA KROZ GODINU: Krist Gospodin pripravlja osnutak svoje Crkve. Radi toga poziva i oko sebe okuplja svoje učenike, koje je
nazvao apostolima. Prva su dvojica bili
učenici sv. Ivana Krstitelja.
Njihov ih učitelj šalje Isusu.
Ova dvojica pozivaju svoju braću: Andrija Simuna, kome Isus daje
novo ime Petar, a Ivan svog brata Jakoba.
govorio nego on govori danas nama. Oni
su mnogo više bili povezani s prirodom i život s ovcama sašinjavao je njihovo
najosnovnije zanimanje. Janje svojom
bjelinom iza striženja simboliški označuje čistoću srca i uzoran
život, koji je bez grijeha. Jaganjac
Božji --- kako je Ivan nazvao Isusa --- jednako je značilo: Tu je Božji
poslanik, Pomazanik Gospodnji, savršen čovjek bez grijeha i ljage, Svetac
Božji. Konačno i sam se Isus predstavio
svojim suvremenicima kao uzor ponitnosti i jednostavnosti: «Dožite k meni i
učite od men, jer sam blaga i ponizna srca!» (Mt 11, 28'29).
(Iv 8, 46).
TODAY: Second
collection is for our utilities.
TUESDAY: Rosary
and Benediction from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
THURSDAY: Medjugorje
Prayer Group will meet at 7:30 p.m.
“LIGHT A CANDLE FOR LIFE”
ON THE EVENING OF THURSDAY, JANUARY 22ND
This is the 36th anniversary of
the Supreme Court decision of Roe vs. Wade.
Everyone is encouraged to place a candle in the
front window of their homes at sundown on January 22nd. The candle serves as a reminder of the
millions unborn and almost born babies who have been aborted since the heinous
Supreme Court decision of Roe vs. Wade.
It is better to light just one
little candle, than to stumble in the dark…
Better by far that you light just one little candle, all you need is a
tiny spark… If we’d all say a prayer
that the world would be free, a wonderful dawn of a new day we’d see… And if everyone lit just one little candle,
what a bright world this would be…!
NEXT SUNDAY: Second
collection will be for The Catholic Relief Services. In Oromia, Ethiopia, drought has destroyed entire regions of
crops, devastating the local agriculture industry and economy. In places like Oromia, where sustainability
is used entirely on agriculture, food security is alarmingly low. At a local Catholic church in the Oromia
region, hundreds of children are receiving therapeutic milk and medical treatment
from Catholic Relief Services.
