TODAY, 4th SUNDAY OF LENT: John the Baptist reminds us about Jesus’ encounter with Necodemus.  In order to be a partaker in the heavenly Kingdom, one must be born again, must be baptized.  St. John continues: If God gave us freedom, He did it out of pure love for us. Our God is not only Almighty, but we fell on our knees before Him out of fear.  He is, thanks to the revelation of Jesus Christ, the immense Love who humbled Himself and came so close to us; that supercedes our expectations.  “God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him might not perish, but might have eternal life.”   The God, who is the very love, as if He wanted to charm Man with His love, and with His love invented the manger and allowed Himself to be crucified on the Cross.  God’s love captures us and we fall on our knees.  We entrust ourselves in that Love; we believe that Love, we open ourselves to that Love; we respond with our love to His love as much as possible.  That is why St. John emphasizes: “Whoever believes in Him might not perish…he is not condemned, has life eternal.”  At every moment we can lift up our eyes full of trust and with a contrite heart; full of faith and immense hope, like the Israelites who in the desert raised a bronze serpent on a pole and were healed.  So we of faith look at the Crucified Jesus, are healed from the devil’s bite and through God’s grace receive new life.

DANAS: 4. . . Ne osuđuje se . . .
