TODAY, 2nd
SUNDAY OF LENT: Jesus, son of the Eternal Father, out of
perfect love and obedience accepts willingly His death in order to achieve
eternal life for His brothers and sisters.
On the way to Emmaus Jesus was explaining to His disciples: “Wasn’t it
necessary for Christ to suffer all of this to enter into His glory?” We read in the Old Testament about the
humble servant, a man of sorrow who, by his sufferings brings salvation to the
world. Because of that we see next to
the transfigured Jesus great representation from the Old Testament: Moses and
Elijah. In St. Mark 8, 31 we read: “He
(Jesus) began to teach them that the Son of man had to suffer much, be rejected
by the elders, the chief priests and scribes, be put to death and rise three
days later.” In St. Mark 9, 31: “The
Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men who will put Him to
death; three days after His death He will rise.” Jesus’ audience, even His apostles could not understand the
announcement of the Lord’s suffering.
Because of that, after these dark announcements follow the glory and
transfiguration…the brightness of the glory of The Risen Lord. Certainly these three apostles in the midst
of the darkest moments could not forget the brightness of Mount Tabor. There is no Easter without Good Friday; no
Good Friday without Easter. Jesus’
suffering (Passion) remains a mystery, unexplainable mystery if we do not look
at it in the light of Easter glory. “Because
He humbled Himself to is death, death on the Cross, that is why God exalted
Him”.

DANAS:
2. NEDJELJA U
Nadalje: u
Starom se Zavjetu također govori o poniznom Sluzi Gospodnjem, o
Čovjeku boli, koji svojom Mukom svijetu donosi spasenje. Radi toga danas vidimo uz bok proslavljenog
i preobraženog Isusa značajne predstavnike St. Saveza: Mojsija i
Iliju.
će ga ubiti; a on će uskrsnuti tri dana poslije smrti.» Isusovi slušatelji, pa i apostoli nisu mogli
shvatiti navještaj Gospodinove Muke.
Radi toga poslije tih tamnih navještaja slijedi slava preobraženja,
predsjaj slave Uskrsnuloga. Vjerujemo
da trojica svjedoka Isusova slavnog preobraženja ni unajcrnjoj tami njegove
Muke nisu mogli zaboraviti sjaj tabora.
Pavao ovako
formulirao: «On ponizi samog sebe sve do smrti na križu i zato ga Bog uzvisi!».
