TODAY, 6th SUNDAY OF EASTER: It is very beautiful to speak about love, but the question is: “What truly is love; what to love means?”  Does it mean not to speak evil against someone?  Or not to hurt anyone?  Or to be polite and to be a gentleman toward everyone?  Above all, to love truly means to keep God’s Commandments.  Our Lord, who loved His Heavenly Father above everything and everybody else, showed that to us.  Jesus said: “If you keep my commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments, and abide in His love.”   (John 15, 10).  To love means to give your life for the person you love.  There is no greater love than when one gives his life for his friends.”   The person truly loves if he is ready to sacrifice his life for the welfare of the loved one.  Maybe a total giving of life is not asked at once, but from day to day…one drop of blood at a time…life we are to try to give to those whom we love.  To love means to bring up the fruit that will remain for a long time.  For example: when somebody is in need, to help the poor, to help people in different life’s needs.  Charity is not of small value.  We are to try to help others so that they might help themselves.  We have to reconstruct our relations toward other people and communities with emphasis on the importance of the commandment of love.

DANAS: 6.

A FAMILY PERSPECTIVE: Can you say to your children the words of Jesus in today's scripture, «As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you»?   This requires we «lay down our life» (our time, attention, opinions) for each other.  This is the sacrament of family life, when God becomes visible in our sacrificial love for one another.
